Rawalpindi U17 Clinch National Cup After Stunning Comeback
Mohammad Alyan Shines As Rawalpindi Secure U17 Championship Title
RAWALPINDI: (Web Desk) – Rawalpindi U17 produced a remarkable comeback to defeat Abbottabad U17 by 125 runs in the final of the National U17 Cup at Iqbal Stadium.
After conceding a 97-run first-innings lead, Rawalpindi fought back strongly to clinch the title and secure prize money of PKR 1 million. Chasing a target of 229 runs, Abbottabad were bowled out for just 103 in 39.5 overs.
Leg-spinner Mohammad Alyan played a match-winning role for Rawalpindi by taking four wickets in the second innings after claiming three in the first. He finished with impressive match figures of seven wickets for 42 runs and was named Player of the Match.
Fellow spinner Azan Ahmed also contributed significantly with three wickets in Abbottabad’s second innings collapse.
Cricket Australia Offers Cummins Major Test Contract
Earlier on the final day, Rawalpindi resumed their second innings at 307 for eight and were eventually dismissed for 325. Sudais Ahmed and Mohammad Saim picked up three wickets each for Abbottabad.
Abbottabad’s Mohammad Saim earned the Player of the Tournament and Best Bowler awards after taking 46 wickets and scoring 136 runs during the competition. Rawalpindi batter Mohammad Yousuf was declared Best Batter of the Tournament after scoring 652 runs, including two centuries in eight matches.
