SYDENY: (Web Desk)- Cricket Australia is reportedly working on long-term contracts aimed at keeping top national players focused on Test cricket and reducing their participation in global T20 franchise leagues.
According to Australian media reports, captain Pat Cummins has been offered a lucrative three-year deal worth around AUD 12 million, which breaks down to roughly AUD 4 million per year. The agreement is designed to encourage him to prioritize Test cricket commitments through 2029.
Cricket Australia’s strategy is focused on securing stability in the Test squad as the team prepares for a packed international calendar, including 21 Test matches over the next 12 months.
In addition to Cummins, discussions are also ongoing with all-format batter Travis Head and star middle-order player Marnus Labuschagne regarding similar long-term contracts.

Cricket Australia official James Allsop said players deserve strong financial incentives, noting that these athletes have consistently delivered high performance across formats for Australia over many years.
The move reflects growing concern among cricket boards about managing player workload and maintaining the strength of Test cricket amid the expansion of domestic T20 leagues worldwide.
