Barcelona:  (News Desk) – The Socialist Party of Spain (PSOE) has received strong backing from immigrant communities during a major political gathering held in L’Hospitalet, near Barcelona, ahead of the country’s upcoming parliamentary elections. The event attracted a large number of participants from Pakistani, Latin American and Arab communities, reflecting growing political engagement among Spain’s diverse immigrant population.

Organised by senior Socialist Party leader Hafiz Abdul Razzaq Sadiq, the gathering took place at Hiba Restaurant and was hosted by its Director, Khurram Shahzad. Several political representatives, community leaders and prominent business figures attended the event, with Barcelona Governor Mari Carmen García attending as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, García said the Socialist Party had consistently supported immigrant rights and worked towards promoting integration, equality and social justice. Among the prominent attendees were Ernesto Carrión, a member of the Catalan Parliament; Iman Asia, a councillor at L’Hospitalet City Council; and Rachid Sanchez and Paula, representatives of Barcelona Municipality’s Immigration Department.

Speakers discussed several important issues affecting immigrant communities, including immigration policies, employment opportunities, affordable housing, education, healthcare and simplifying the process of obtaining Spanish citizenship. They stressed that the Socialist Party stood for unity, peaceful coexistence and equal opportunities, while rejecting politics based on hatred and division.

The gathering also witnessed significant participation from the Pakistani business community, including Chaudhry Ishtiaq Hussain, President of the Pakistan Peoples Party (Spain), and Danish Feroz. Representatives of Latin American and Arab communities also attended in large numbers, highlighting the importance of multicultural cooperation and political participation.

Host Khurram Shahzad welcomed the participants and reaffirmed Hiba Restaurant’s commitment to supporting community initiatives and providing a platform for constructive engagement.

At the conclusion of the gathering, participants expressed their commitment to supporting Socialist Party candidates in the forthcoming parliamentary elections. They also pledged to launch door-to-door campaigns to raise awareness about the party’s manifesto and encourage greater voter participation within immigrant communities.

The event concluded in a friendly and celebratory atmosphere, with participants exchanging views and posing for group photographs.
