“Pakistan’s Firewall Upgrade Advances with New Installations at Key Gateways”

"Significant Firewall Upgrades Underway in Pakistan with New Installations at Key Points"

Pakistan’s ongoing firewall upgrade project is advancing swiftly, focusing on improving both local and international network gateways.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has confirmed that key components of the new firewall will be deployed at these critical points. To address concerns about slow internet speeds, the PTA has instructed that the firewall installation be carried out during off-peak hours to minimize user disruptions.

The PTA plans to conduct extensive trials only after initial, smaller-scale testing to ensure system stability before the full rollout.

However, the project faces some challenges. Outdated equipment from telecom companies has complicated the integration of the new firewall, leading to compatibility issues. Technical problems have arisen from the use of legacy equipment alongside the new technology.

PTA sources acknowledge these difficulties as part of the process for a major installation like this and are confident that the issues will be resolved. The involvement of equipment from various manufacturers has also led to configuration problems, adding to the complexity of the upgrade.

Despite these obstacles, the PTA is dedicated to completing the firewall upgrade, which is expected to greatly improve Pakistan’s cybersecurity infrastructure once fully operational.
