Mohmand terrorist attack today leaves police station officer and constable dead near Warsak Canal
KP Mohmand – (Web Desk) – In the Mohmand terrorist attack today, two brave police officers lost their lives after gunmen opened fire on a police patrol in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The attack took place late Thursday night near the Warsak Lift Canal in the Machni area, which falls under Ekkaghund police station.
Officials say a group of armed men ambushed the patrol team with heavy gunfire. Additional Station House Officer Zaitullah and Elite Force constable Noor Zeb lost their lives while trying to fight back.
The driver of the police vehicle, named Zahir, was badly hurt in the attack. He was first treated nearby and then moved to Peshawar for better medical care.
Police say their team acted fast and pushed the attackers back. Some terrorists are believed to have been killed in the gunfight, though this has not been fully confirmed.
The attackers left behind an M4 rifle, a Kalashnikov rifle, and three loaded magazines as they fled the area.
Soon after the attack, senior police officers reached the spot. They sealed off the area and began a search operation to find the escaped attackers.
Police officials said their fight against these terror groups will continue until the threat is fully wiped out. They also promised that the sacrifice of their fallen officers will not be forgotten.
The two officers were laid to rest with full honours on Friday morning at the Police Lines in Ghalanai. Senior police officials, army officers, and a lawmaker attended the funeral.
