Pakistan, UAE Vow Closer Coordination Amid Regional Developments

Islamabad — Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) convened the second session of their Joint Consular Committee (JCC) today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad, further reinforcing bilateral cooperation on key consular matters.

The session was co-chaired by Shehryar Akbar Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary (Middle East), and Faisal Eissa Lutfi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a comprehensive and constructive dialogue, both sides discussed a wide range of topics including the welfare of Pakistani nationals living in the UAE, visa facilitation, labour rights, and improved collaboration in migration management.

Both delegations expressed satisfaction with the current level of consular cooperation and praised the institutional framework that allows for the timely resolution of issues affecting citizens in both countries.

Highlighting the strong momentum in bilateral relations, Pakistani officials referenced recent high-level visits by UAE leaders, including the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Additional Foreign Secretary acknowledged the UAE’s consistent support for the Pakistani expatriate community, which he described as a “bridge of friendship” between the two nations.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening people-to-people ties and underscored the importance of sustained dialogue through the Joint Consular Committee.

Both countries agreed to continue regular JCC meetings to strengthen mutual cooperation and ensure the well-being of their citizens. The meeting concluded in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting the enduring brotherhood and deep-rooted historical ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
