Pakistan Test Squad Departs For Crucial West Indies Tour

Pakistan Test Team Departs for West Indies as Babar Azam Returns as Captain

Islamabad (Sports Desk): Pakistan’s Test squad has departed for the West Indies under the leadership of newly reappointed captain Babar Azam for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship series.

According to ARY News, the national side left Islamabad International Airport on Monday morning and will travel to the Caribbean via Doha and London before beginning preparations for the series.

As part of their build-up, Pakistan will play a four-day practice match in the West Indies from July 18 to July 21 to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the Test fixtures.

The two-match ICC World Test Championship series against the West Indies will be played from July 25 to August 10. The opening Test is scheduled at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, while the second match will be held at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.

Before departing, the squad completed a three-day training camp at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where players underwent intensive practice sessions and participated in a two-day scenario-based match to prepare for Caribbean conditions.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently reinstated star batter Babar Azam as the Test captain, replacing Shan Masood following a disappointing run of results in the longest format.

During Shan Masood’s tenure, Pakistan won only four of 16 Test matches while suffering 12 defeats, including heavy home and away series losses against Bangladesh that drew widespread criticism.
