Pakistan sets technical groups for US Iran diplomatic negotiations
FO announces coordination framework ahead of US Iran talks
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Foreign Office has announced that three dedicated technical groups have been set up ahead of the upcoming second round of US–Iran discussions. According to FO spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, these groups will focus on key areas including Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions and frozen assets affecting the Gulf region, and the evolving situation in Lebanon.
He added that Pakistan and Qatar’s technical teams will maintain continuous coordination with both Washington and Tehran to support ongoing diplomatic engagement. Pakistan, he said, intends to remain actively involved in facilitating dialogue and encouraging peaceful outcomes in the region.
Pakistan Hit By Injury Concerns Before Tours
Andrabi noted that several countries have acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in helping encourage a ceasefire between the United States and Iran and bringing both sides toward negotiations. He also welcomed the positive role played by Pakistani media in supporting these mediation efforts.
Separately, he stated that the government is prioritising efforts to secure the release of a Pakistani vessel and its crew held by Somali pirates. He confirmed that inter-ministerial consultations are underway, along with coordination with Ansar Burney and other humanitarian organisations to assist in the recovery process.
He further said Pakistan had strongly condemned Israeli strikes in Lebanon and confirmed assistance in repatriating 30 Iranian nationals. Reaffirming Pakistan’s regional security stance, he stressed that Afghan territory must not be used for actions against Pakistan, while also highlighting continued cooperation with China in counterterrorism efforts.
