Pakistan Remittances Hit $4.3 Billion Record in May 2026

Pakistan's remittances reach $4.3 billion, setting a new all-time monthly record in May 2026

Pakistan Remittances – (Web Desk) – Pakistan remittances hit $4.3 billion in May 2026, the highest monthly inflow ever recorded in the country’s history, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.

The central bank said remittances rose 20.2 percent compared to April 2026 and were 15.4 percent higher than the same month last year. The strong growth was partly driven by higher transfers during the Eid-ul-Azha festive period, when overseas Pakistanis traditionally send more money home.

Saudi Arabia remained the top source, with workers sending home $1.025 billion during the month. The United Arab Emirates followed closely with $1.007 billion, while the United Kingdom contributed $645.5 million and the United States added $349.8 million.

Cumulative remittances during the first 11 months of fiscal year 2025-26 reached $38.1 billion, up 9.2 percent from $34.9 billion in the same period a year earlier. Finance ministry adviser Khurram Schehzad said total inflows are on track to surpass $41 billion by the end of the fiscal year, which would mark a new annual record.

Remittances are a critical source of foreign exchange for Pakistan, helping support household incomes, finance imports, and stabilise the country’s external accounts. The inflows have become especially important as Islamabad pursues economic stability under a $7 billion IMF programme and works to strengthen its foreign exchange reserves
