Pakistan Pays Tribute to UN Peacekeepers on International Peacekeepers Day
In a statement issued on Friday, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations said Pakistan’s association with UN peacekeeping missions spans more than six decades and reflects the country’s enduring commitment to international peace efforts.
According to the ISPR, more than 237,000 Pakistani peacekeepers have participated in United Nations missions across the world since 1960. During this period, 183 Pakistani personnel sacrificed their lives while serving under the UN flag.
The statement highlighted that Pakistani peacekeepers are currently deployed in several high-risk conflict zones, including the Democratic Republic of Congo under MONUSCO, South Sudan under UNMISS, and the Central African Republic under MINUSCA.

Pakistani troops continue to perform a wide range of responsibilities in these missions, including military operations, humanitarian support, civilian protection, and efforts to address climate-related challenges in conflict-affected regions.
The ISPR reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the principles and objectives of United Nations peacekeeping operations, emphasizing the country’s investment in professional training, human resource development, and institutional capacity building.
It further stated that Pakistan remains firmly committed to working alongside the United Nations in promoting international peace, stability, and humanitarian relief efforts worldwide.
The military’s media wing noted that lasting peace requires continuous collective efforts from the global community and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to remain at the forefront of international peacekeeping initiatives under the UN banner.
