Pakistan China Celebrate Seventy Five Years Of Diplomatic Relations
Shehbaz Sharif Praises China Partnership And CPEC Development Progress Strongly
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Asif Ali Zardari extended warm congratulations to Xi Jinping and the people of China on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China on behalf of the Pakistani nation and government.
In his message issued on Thursday, President Zardari described Pakistan-China ties as a shining example of lasting friendship, mutual trust, and strategic cooperation spanning decades.
Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated the people of both countries on the historic milestone, stating that Pakistanis hold the Chinese people in deep respect and affection.
The prime minister said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations on May 21, 1951, bilateral ties have steadily transformed into an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership rooted in sovereign equality, mutual confidence, and shared goals for peace and development.
Shehbaz Sharif praised the commitment of the Chinese leadership toward strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing the vision of building a closer “Pakistan-China Community of Shared Future in the New Era.”
He reiterated Pakistan’s firm support for the One-China principle and appreciated China’s consistent cooperation in various sectors, including economic development, infrastructure, and regional connectivity.
The premier highlighted the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, calling it a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative that has greatly contributed to Pakistan’s infrastructure, energy security, industrial growth, and connectivity.
He said Pakistan remains committed to the next phase of CPEC with greater focus on industrialization, agriculture, information technology, science and technology, green development, and people-centered cooperation.
The prime minister also welcomed the expansion of Pakistan-China collaboration into emerging sectors including digital economy, innovation, education, cultural exchanges, and space cooperation. He noted that the friendship between the two countries continues to symbolize strategic trust and shared prosperity.
Shehbaz Sharif further commended President Xi Jinping’s leadership and acknowledged China’s remarkable achievements in economic growth, poverty reduction, technological advancement, and global connectivity.
He added that the 75th anniversary is not only a celebration of the past but also a commitment toward shaping a stronger future partnership amid evolving regional and global challenges.
Separately, the State Bank of Pakistan announced the launch of a special Rs75 commemorative coin to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. According to the SBP, the coin will be available to the public from Monday.
