Government Restores Earlier Speed Limits for Motorways and Highways

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Government of Pakistan has reversed its earlier decision to temporarily lower speed limits on motorways and national highways, reinstating the previous maximum speed limits for all vehicle categories.
Confirming the development, Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed said that cars and other light vehicles will once again be allowed to travel at speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour on motorways.

He further stated that the speed limit for passenger buses and heavy transport vehicles on motorways has been restored to 110 kilometres per hour.
The spokesperson added that the previously applicable speed limits on national highways have also been reinstated for all categories of vehicles.
While announcing the restoration, the Motorway Police urged drivers to continue following traffic regulations and adhere to prescribed speed limits to ensure road safety.
Syed Imran Ahmed advised motorists to keep their speed under control, wear seat belts, and drive responsibly to avoid accidents and ensure safer journeys.
Officials said the decision aims to improve travel convenience for road users while maintaining a strong focus on public safety. The Motorway Police reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing traffic laws and encouraging responsible driving across the country’s road network.
