PAF officer martyred while rescuing woman in Islamabad

Islamabad: (Staff Reporter) – Pakistan Air Force Group Captain Asim was martyred after he intervened to rescue a woman from an alleged assault on Ninth Avenue in Islamabad, police said.

According to Islamabad Police, Group Captain Asim was passing through the area when he saw a motorcyclist allegedly pulling a woman by the hand. He turned back and approached the man after noticing the situation.

Police said the woman moved towards the officer’s vehicle, after which the suspect allegedly abused Group Captain Asim and opened fire. The PAF officer sustained critical bullet injuries and later succumbed to them.

In her statement, the woman told police that the accused, identified as Saad, was her colleague who had offered to drop her at work. She alleged that he changed the route and tried to take her to another location against her will, leading to a struggle.

Police said the officer’s intervention helped protect the woman. The suspect fled after the shooting, while law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation to arrest him.
