Over 40,000 Police Officers Deployed for Eid-ul-Adha Security in Punjab
LAHORE: The Punjab police to ensure a peaceful Eid-ul-Adha celebration have formulated a comprehensive security plan across the province, with a major focus on Lahore.
Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, revealed the deployment of over 40,000 police personnel to safeguard religious gatherings and public spaces. This includes security measures for 26,500 mosques, imambargahs, and 900 designated open-air Eid prayer locations.
Lahore will see a significant police presence with 6,000 officers dedicated to securing its over 5,000 Eid prayer congregations. This security force will be bolstered by 498 Special Police Unit personnel and 260 Quick Response Teams.
Dr. Anwar emphasized heightened vigilance against banned organizations and individuals listed in the Fourth Schedule. He directed stricter monitoring and the deployment of snipers and undercover commandos on rooftops of mosques and imambargahs.

The security plan extends beyond religious sites. Anwar also directed the deployment of additional officers to ensure safety at parks and recreational areas frequented by citizens during the Eid holidays.
Measures to ensure the proper implementation of Home Department SOPs regarding the collection of sacrificial animal hides were also highlighted by the IG Punjab.
