OGDCL Sanghar Oil Well Begins Production in Sindh
OGDCL Sanghar Oil Well Pumps 2,000 Barrels Daily from Bobi Deep-1
OGDCL – (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s state-owned oil company OGDCL has started oil production from its OGDCL Sanghar oil well, known as Bobi Deep-1, located in the Bobi and Dhamraki mining lease area of Sindh’s Sanghar district. The well is currently producing 2,000 barrels of oil per day from the Lower Goru Formation.
The company laid a 4-inch, 1.5-kilometre flowline connecting the well to the nearby Bobi Plant. This allowed production to begin quickly after the discovery was announced on June 3. OGDCL owns 100 percent working interest in the project and completed the entire work using local teams and resources.
This new production will help increase domestic energy supplies and reduce Pakistan’s dependence on imported oil. It is part of the company’s broader push to speed up exploration across the country.
Earlier this year, OGDCL also started commercial production from the Baragzai X-01 well in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. That well is currently producing around 6,100 barrels of oil per day, 18 million cubic feet of gas per day, and 50 tonnes of LPG. It accounts for about 10 percent of OGDCL’s total crude oil output.
In March, the company successfully completed its first horizontal oil well in a clastic reservoir at Pasakhi-13 in Hyderabad.
Despite these achievements, OGDCL’s profits fell by 11 percent to Rs115.3 billion in the first nine months of the current financial year, mainly due to forced production cutbacks. Still, the company spud 10 wells during this period and made eight new oil and gas discoveries, adding further strength to its resource portfolio.
