New Mac Mini May Arrive Before iPhone 18

ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – Apple could unveil a refreshed Mac mini within the next few days, potentially putting the compact desktop on the market before the company introduces its upcoming iPhone 18 lineup, according to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The reported launch could come even before Apple sends invitations for its September iPhone event, adding another major product announcement to an already packed autumn schedule.

Why Apple May Be Updating the Mac Mini

The current Mac mini has reportedly become increasingly popular among users who run artificial intelligence models locally. Growing demand, combined with a shortage of memory chips, has allegedly made the machine harder to keep available, with some customers experiencing longer delivery times.

Gurman reported that Apple has tested both M5 and M6-powered versions of the refreshed Mac mini. However, it remains uncertain which chip the company will ultimately select for the production model.

Apple has not publicly commented on the reported launch plans.

Mac Mini Production Expanding in the US

The new Mac mini is also expected to coincide with Apple’s broader push to expand manufacturing in the United States.

Apple has previously announced plans to begin producing the Mac mini at its facility in Houston, Texas, later this year. According to the report, Apple CEO Tim Cook recently toured the site alongside officials from the Trump administration as the company works to increase its US-based production capacity.

The manufacturing shift comes after Apple discontinued production of its US-made Mac Pro earlier this year.

Apple Reportedly Preparing More Mac Updates

The Mac mini may be just one of several Mac products Apple is preparing to refresh.

Bloomberg reports that Apple is developing an updated entry-level MacBook Pro and a new iMac, with both machines expected to use M6 chips.

The company is also reportedly working on redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring OLED displays and touchscreen capabilities.

A touchscreen MacBook Pro would mark a significant departure from Apple’s traditional laptop design philosophy. However, those models are reportedly expected to arrive later than the upcoming Mac mini.

The reported Mac mini launch could also become one of the final major product introductions during Tim Cook’s tenure as Apple CEO, with hardware chief John Ternus expected to take over the role on September 1.
