NDMA Alert: Thunderstorm, Heavy Rain Warning Across Pakistan

NDMA Alert Thunderstorm Warning Covers All Major Cities and Northern Regions

NDMA Alert – (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s disaster management authority has issued an urgent nationwide weather warning. The NDMA alert thunderstorm advisory covers almost every province and warns citizens to stay safe over the next 12 to 24 hours.

Strong winds, heavy rain, and isolated hailstorms are expected across Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Islamabad. Authorities say the situation matches forecasts made three to four months ago.

In Punjab, cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Sialkot are among the areas on the alert list. Islamabad and nearby areas may also see hailstorms at certain locations.

Northern areas face an added danger. Rising temperatures are speeding up glacier melting, raising the risk of glacial lake outburst floods, flash floods, and landslides in mountainous regions including Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, and surrounding valleys.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts including Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Abbottabad, and Mansehra are also expected to receive gusty winds and heavy showers with possible hailstorms in some areas.

Down south, cities in Sindh such as Karachi, Hyderabad, and Badin are under a thunderstorm and hailstorm warning. In Balochistan, Quetta, Gwadar, Khuzdar, and several other districts are likely to be affected.

NDMA has warned that strong winds and hail could damage weak structures, solar panels, and vehicles, particularly in southern regions. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from glacial lakes and unstable slopes.

All provincial administrations and emergency departments have been placed on high alert. The public is encouraged to follow official advisories and download the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert app for real-time updates.
