Nationwide campaign vaccinates 44.5m children: NEOC

The NEOC said over 400,000 frontline workers participated in the drive

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) on Sunday said that more than 44.5 million children were vaccinated during the second nationwide anti-polio campaign, which is concluding today.

According to an official statement, Punjab recorded the highest number, with over 22.9 million children receiving polio drops. In Sindh, around 10.3 million children were vaccinated against the disease.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, approximately 7.155 million children were immunised, while Balochistan reported 2.582 million vaccinations.

The campaign also covered other regions, with more than 717,000 children vaccinated in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, over 292,000 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and around 441,000 in Islamabad.

The NEOC said over 400,000 frontline workers participated in the drive, going door to door to administer vaccine drops.

Officials reiterated that polio vaccination is mandatory for all children under the age of five, stressing the importance of continued immunisation efforts to eradicate the disease.
