Marka e Haq Anniversary 2026: Islamabad Traffic Advisory
Everything You Need to Know About Road Closures for Marka e Haq Anniversary 2026
Islamabad – (Web Desk) – The capital city is preparing for major traffic changes as Islamabad marks the Marka e Haq anniversary 2026 on May 10. The Islamabad Traffic Police have issued a detailed advisory, with temporary road diversions in effect from 6pm to midnight.
Marka e Haq, meaning “Battle of Truth,” refers to the 19-day military conflict between Pakistan and India. It lasted from April 22 to May 10, 2025, ending with Pakistan’s decisive military response. This year, the government is marking one full year since that historic moment.
Two major routes will be shut for all traffic during the event hours:
Srinagar Highway will remain closed from Korianwala Chowk to Peshawar Mor in both directions. Islamabad Expressway will also be closed from Faizabad to Khayaban Chowk throughout the night.
Travelers are advised to plan ahead and use the recommended alternate roads based on their destination.
Motorway or Islamabad Chowk toward Bhara Kahu or Murree: Use 9th Avenue, Colonel Sher Khan Road, and IJP Road.
Murree or Bhara Kahu toward the Motorway: Follow Murree Road via Faizabad, then Colonel Sher Khan Road and 9th Avenue.
Motorway toward Red Zone or nearby sectors: Take Peshawar Mor, then 9th Avenue to Jinnah Avenue or Margalla Road.
Red Zone residents heading toward Rawalpindi: Use Margalla Road or Jinnah Avenue, connecting to 9th Avenue.
Rawalpindi to Islamabad: Use Colonel Sher Khan Road or Faqir Aapi Road to 9th Avenue.
Rawalpindi Scheme III residents: Options include Rawal Road, Murree Road, or Club Road depending on your destination.
Murree or Bhara Kahu toward Koral or Rawat T-Cross: Use Korang Road via Bani Gala, Park Road, and Lehtrar Road.
