Lillah Jhelum Dual Carriageway Targeted for December

Lillah-Jhelum Road Set for Completion This Year

Jhelum – (Web Desk) – The Lillah Jhelum dual carriageway will be finished by December, officials decided in a follow-up review meeting chaired by Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani on Friday. The session looked at progress made since decisions taken during last week’s meeting on the more than 100-kilometre road linking Lillah and Jhelum.

Officials talked about putting up electricity poles at new spots along the route. They also settled on a plan for building and widening railway crossings on the road.

Kayani told all departments involved to work closely together and clear away technical problems so the project finishes on time.

Senior officers from the Ministries of Energy and Railways, the Jhelum district administration, the Frontier Works Organisation, the Communications and Works Department, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company, and other bodies took part in the meeting. Talib Mehdi also attended.

The meeting covered plans to widen railway crossings and move utility lines along the Lillah-Jhelum road. Speaking at the session, the state minister said travel on the road must be safe and of good quality. He added that the finished project will give the region better transport links and help hundreds of thousands of local residents.

Officials also approved plans to widen two railway crossings at Pind Dadan Khan and Harnpur, along with moving high-voltage power lines out of the way.
