Lahore Metro Bus Service to Be Suspended from August 11: Here’s why

LAHORE: (News Desk) – The Lahore Metro Bus Service is set to be suspended from August 11 amid an ongoing dispute over the uninterrupted supply of fuel, according to a notice issued by VEDA, the private company operating the service.
VEDA has issued a final notice to the Punjab Masstransit Authority (PMA), stating that its financial resources have been exhausted and it can no longer continue operations without a reliable fuel supply.
The company said the fuel shortage has forced it to take the decision to suspend the Metro Bus Service across Lahore. It maintained that the PMA has so far failed to resolve the issue of uninterrupted fuel supply.
According to VEDA, operations can only continue if a continuous fuel supply is ensured in accordance with a court order. The company has formally informed the authorities that all Lahore Metro Bus operations will be suspended from August 11 if the issue remains unresolved.
The potential suspension could affect thousands of daily commuters who rely on the Metro Bus Service for affordable transportation across Lahore.
