Arshad Nadeem Sets Sights on Breaking His Own Javelin Record Soon.

Peshawar:Expressing his commitment to qualifying for the 2028 Olympics, Arshad Nadeem reflected on his journey from modest beginnings to becoming one of Pakistan’s most celebrated athletes.

During a ceremony in his honor hosted by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at Governor House Peshawar, Arshad recounted his achievements between 2016 and 2020. He highlighted his numerous medals in international competitions and his record-breaking performance at the South Asian Games in Guwahati.

Arshad shared that he had aspired to win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Despite enduring injuries and working tirelessly towards this goal, his efforts were rewarded with a fifth-place finish at the Tokyo Games.

After the Tokyo Olympics, Arshad Nadeem intensified his training regimen and expressed his gratitude to the Punjab Sports Board for providing essential facilities. He noted that his breakthrough came when he recorded his first throw over 80 meters in England, followed by an impressive 90-meter throw on his third attempt.

Arshad shared that he had only three days to prepare for the World Islamic Games but still managed to secure a medal. Despite limited preparation time for the World Athletics Championships, his determination remained strong. His silver medal at the event was a significant achievement, making him the first Pakistani athlete to directly qualify for the Olympics.

Arshad Nadeem shared with the audience that he faced several challenges, including two injuries before the Olympics, but remained resolute. He recalled his coach’s words, “We have to win a medal,” which fueled his determination. Despite an injury on July 21, just before the Paris Olympics, Arshad trained intensively, achieving his best throw of over 80 meters in the qualifying rounds and regaining his confidence.

In the Paris Olympics finals, Arshad maintained his composure and confidence, delivering powerful throws and ultimately securing the gold medal. “I stayed focused until my final throw and achieved success,” he said.

Upon returning home, Arshad was met with an outpouring of love and support from his fellow countrymen. He expressed his commitment to participating in the World Athletics Championship and pledged to work hard to break his own record in the near future.

He also thanked KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi for the warm reception and vowed to continue pushing himself in future competitions.
