The F-35 jets, considered among the most advanced combat aircraft globally, are already part of Israel’s fleet and have been used in various operations. The new purchase is expected to further enhance precision strike capabilities and strategic reach.
Israel’s air force has played a significant role in recent conflicts, particularly during operations in Gaza, where extensive air campaigns targeted what authorities described as militant infrastructure. The country has also relied on its air capabilities in confrontations involving Iran and allied groups in the region.
The deal comes as Israel continues to increase its defence budget, reflecting ongoing regional tensions and security challenges.
