Islamabad Declaration Women: OIC Vows Digital Push
OIC women empowerment takes center stage at Islamabad summit
Islamabad – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – The Islamabad Declaration women initiative has taken a major step forward. OIC member states gathered in Islamabad and agreed on new steps for OIC women empowerment across the Muslim world.
The ninth Ministerial Conference on Women wrapped up on Monday. Leaders from OIC countries signed off on the Islamabad Declaration, a document packed with promises for women and girls.
The declaration puts a strong focus on jobs, education, and leadership roles. Ministers agreed to remove barriers that stop women from studying or working freely.
Countries also promised to boost women’s access to finance. This includes Islamic finance, microfinance, and easy-to-use digital banking tools. Small businesses run by women will get more support too.
Technology took center stage during the talks. Leaders launched something called the Islamabad Initiative on Women’s Digital Inclusion. This new platform will help women learn digital skills, start online businesses, and explore fields like AI and cybersecurity.

Rural women were a key talking point. The declaration calls for cheaper internet, more devices, and better digital training in areas that often get left behind.
Safety online matters just as much as opportunity. The declaration pushes for stronger action against cyber harassment and online abuse targeting women. Leaders also spoke out against hate speech and discrimination facing Muslim women worldwide.
Women in Palestine and Kashmir got special mention too. OIC nations pledged support, from legal help to education and mental health care, for women facing hardship in these regions.
OIC Assistant Secretary-General Dr Tarig Ali Bakheet praised the outcome. He said real success depends on turning these promises into action, not just signing papers.
Bakheet congratulated Pakistan for taking over as chair of the conference. He believes Pakistan can lead the way in making these commitments a reality.
The OIC also thanked Pakistan’s government for hosting the event. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received special appreciation for his support throughout the conference.
This declaration marks a fresh chapter for women across OIC nations. With digital tools, financial access, and stronger protections on the table, the coming months will show how well these promises turn into real change.
