US Strikes Iran Third Night As Trump Announces New Hormuz Blockade Plan
Trump Warns of Iran Hormuz Tariff as Tension Grows
TRUMP vs IRAN – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – The US strikes Iran third night in a row, right after Trump announces Hormuz blockade plans and a surprise tariff on ships passing through the strait. The US military said these attacks aim to weaken Iran’s power to hit ships and civilians near the strait of Hormuz.
Trump spoke on a radio show and said the US will “hit them very hard” for two more nights. He claimed Iran has nothing left to fight back with, calling their threats empty talk.
Late Monday, two tankers from the UAE came under attack. Iran fired cruise missiles at them in Omani waters. One Indian crew member died, and eight others got hurt, four of them seriously.
Oil prices jumped fast after the attack. Brent crude rose close to 8%, hitting almost $82 a barrel. Still, this stays far below the $120 mark seen earlier in the war.
Before the strikes, Trump also spoke about placing a 20% tax on cargo ships crossing the strait. He wants the US to be called the new “guardian” of Hormuz. This marks a big shift, since the US always said the strait should stay free for everyone, no tolls attached.
The Iran Hormuz tariff Trump plan breaks past US promises. Officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, said earlier that no nation should charge fees on international waters. Groups like the International Maritime Organization also reject this tariff idea, saying no law backs it.
Iran’s military group, the IRGC, pushed back hard. A spokesperson said the US move puts global oil supplies at risk and warned that Tehran will keep control over the strait no matter what.
The war began in February after Iran’s leader was killed in joint US-Israeli strikes. A short ceasefire deal followed, giving both sides 60 days to talk peace. That plan has fallen apart fast, with strikes near Hormuz growing worse each week.
Trump also sent a formal letter to Congress about restarting military action. This move opens a new 60-day window for US strikes, without needing lawmakers’ approval first. Some lawmakers from both parties say this breaks war powers rules.
Starting Tuesday night, the US Navy plans to enforce a full blockade on Iran’s ports and coastal zones. Officials say ships trying to enter or leave without permission may face force. Ships not heading to or from Iran won’t face any block.
Fighting has spread past Iran too. Qatar and the UAE both faced drone and missile attacks recently, marking their first hits in months. Thousands of people have died since the war started, mostly in Iran and Lebanon.
As tensions rise, oil prices and inflation worries grow too. With US elections coming this November, rising fuel costs could hurt Trump’s political standing at home.
