Iran Hits US Military Bases Across Gulf Following 140 American Strikes

Iran Shuts Strait of Hormuz Following Escalating US Military Strikes Today

TEHRAN: (Special Reporter) – Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz “until further notice” on Sunday after its Revolutionary Guards said they intercepted a vessel using what they described as an unauthorized shipping route. The move marks a major escalation in the confrontation between Tehran and Washington and raises fresh concerns over global energy supplies.

The United States responded with a new wave of airstrikes targeting around 140 Iranian military sites, saying the operation was carried out after a Cyprus-flagged container ship was attacked while transiting the strategic waterway. According to US Central Command, the vessel sustained significant damage, caught fire, and was abandoned by its crew after one crew member went missing.

Iranian authorities reported explosions in several southern locations, including Bandar Abbas, Jask, Sirik and Qeshm Island, while Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates activated air defense systems after reporting incoming missile and drone attacks. Gulf states said they intercepted the projectiles, highlighting the widening regional fallout from the crisis.

Pakistan Urges Restraint Amid Iran Conflict Escalation Concerns

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said the closure of the Strait of Hormuz would remain in place until what they called an end to American intervention in the region. However, separate maritime monitoring reports indicated that some shipping traffic was still moving through parts of the waterway despite Tehran’s declaration.

The latest exchange threatens ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at stabilizing the region and preserving a fragile ceasefire. As one of the world’s most important energy corridors, any prolonged disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could have significant consequences for global oil markets and international trade.
