Internet Services Gradually Restored in Mirpur After Extended Suspension

MIRPUR: (Our Correspondent) – Internet services have started returning in phases across Mirpur district and nearby areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, ending a lengthy disruption that had affected daily life, education, and business activities.

The gradual restoration has brought relief to residents, students, traders, freelancers, and IT professionals who had struggled with limited communication and online access during the shutdown. While social media platforms and internet services are now functioning in several locations, some users continue to experience slow speeds and intermittent connectivity.

The business community welcomed the move, saying the suspension had hampered banking operations, e-commerce, digital payments, and other commercial activities. They expressed hope that normal economic activity would fully resume once internet services are completely restored.

Students have also regained access to online classes, educational portals, and digital learning resources, while freelancers said the return of internet connectivity would help them resume work and meet professional commitments.

Residents urged the authorities to ensure uninterrupted internet access in the future, saying the prolonged outage had significantly disrupted everyday life.

According to the local administration, the restoration process is being carried out in stages, with full internet connectivity expected to be available across the district soon.

Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari welcomed reports of the restoration, appreciated the efforts of the PPP’s Azad Kashmir chapter and the intervention of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission, and expressed hope that internet services would also be restored soon in Muzaffarabad and other parts of the region.
