International Community Urges Restraint as Pakistan-India Tensions Escalate

Islamabad – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday briefed Islamabad-based ambassadors on the recent Indian strikes targeting areas within Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, carried out during the night of May 6 and 7.

Condemning the attacks in the strongest terms, the Deputy Prime Minister labeled the Indian action as a “flagrant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty” and a “grave threat to regional peace and stability.” He stated that the strikes constituted a breach of the United Nations Charter, international law, and established norms of inter-state conduct.

Rejecting Indian claims that the strikes were aimed at terrorist infrastructure, Senator Dar asserted that no credible evidence had been presented linking Pakistan to the recent Pahalgam Attack. He described New Delhi’s justification as a “baseless narrative” rooted in political expediency.

“The Indian leadership continues to exploit the rhetoric of terrorism to fabricate a false sense of victimhood, diverting attention from its own internal issues and human rights violations,” Dar said during the briefing.

He expressed deep disappointment over India’s disregard for repeated international calls for restraint and de-escalation. The Foreign Minister called on the global community to “hold India accountable for its irresponsible and reckless conduct,” warning that such provocations could have far-reaching consequences for regional security.
