Imran Khan claims he has one last card to play
PTI founder is in shock over the D-Chowk incident. He directed that the first FIR should be filed against Mohsin Naqvi and Shehbaz Sharif.
RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has condemned the shooting incident that occurred at D-Chowk, Islamabad, calling it an unforgivable tragedy. Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Aleema expressed her deep shock and regret over the incident, revealing that she failed to stop the violence and that PTI leaders, including Bushra Bibi, should have stepped forward to prevent the escalation.
Aleema Khan stated that Imran Khan, who is still in shock, has instructed that an FIR be filed against Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the caretaker Punjab government, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. She also disclosed that the PTI founder mentioned having a “last card” to play in the ongoing crisis, hinting at a potential move to present a report on the D-Chowk tragedy to the Supreme Court and international organizations.
In her address, Aleema Khan also addressed rumors about her brother’s health, which had circulated in the media. She denied reports suggesting that Imran Khan was being poisoned or was mentally unwell. During their meeting, Aleema assured the media that he was in good health but had been held in detention for 50 hours without access to newspapers or television.
The shooting at D-Chowk, which resulted in at least 12 confirmed deaths, has left many people missing or detained, with families desperately searching for their loved ones. Aleema said that her brother was devastated to learn about the loss of life and the continued uncertainty surrounding the fate of many people. Despite requests from PTI supporters to visit hospitals for more information, she claimed that anyone attempting to gather details was being arrested by authorities.

Imran Khan, according to his sister, strongly condemned the brutal actions that took place, describing the snipers who targeted the protesters during the day and the military attack on them at night as an unforgivable act. Comparing the D-Chowk incident to the violent military operations at Lal Masjid and the killing of Akbar Bugti, Aleema warned that such heavy-handed tactics only fuel public anger and further intensify the already volatile political situation.
Reflecting on the chaos of the day, Aleema recalled the moment when the sniper fire began. She revealed that she had urged protesters to retreat as bodies fell around them, but the situation spiraled out of control. “The question remains: why were bullets fired in the first place?” she asked, questioning the justification for the use of force against unarmed protesters.
As the situation unfolds, PTI leaders continue to express their outrage over the incident, while families of the victims await answers and justice for those affected by the violence.
