Muzaffarabad: (Special Reporter) – Unofficial results from the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections show the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) securing a commanding lead, winning 13 of the 18 declared constituencies, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) claimed five seats.
Polling was conducted in eight constituencies of the Muzaffarabad Division and 12 refugee constituencies. However, voting in LA-27 was postponed after polling staff and election material could not reach the area because of bad weather and landslides, affecting all 196 polling stations.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, prominent PML-N leaders including Shah Ghulam Qadir, Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider, Mustafa Bashir Abbasi, Maryam Javed, Nasir Hussain Dar, Chaudhry Muhammad Ismail, Muhammad Ahsan Raza, Zeeshan Ali, Raja Muhammad Siddique, Syed Shaukat Ali Shah, Muhammad Yasin Lone, Muhammad Ahmed Raza Qadri, and Muhammad Amir Shah secured victories in their respective constituencies.
The PPP registered victories in LA-26, LA-33, LA-40, and LA-45, with successful candidates including Mian Abdul Waheed, Dewan Ali Khan Qamar Chughtai, Aamir Abdul Ghaffar, and Abdul Majid Khan. Election authorities are expected to announce the remaining results after the completion of the counting process.
