Azma Bukhari Rejects PPP Allegations Over AJK Election Results

Lahore: (Staff Reporter) – Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bukhari has rejected the Pakistan Peoples Party’s allegations regarding the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, saying the results reflected the public’s support for development-oriented politics.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Bukhari said the outcome of the elections was expected and claimed that voters had endorsed the development model implemented by the Punjab government. She also praised the turnout of women voters, saying many elderly women participated in the polls.

The minister criticized the PPP, alleging that the party began raising objections before polling had concluded despite not filing any formal complaint with the Election Commission. She also referred to remarks made by Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, claiming the opposition had attempted to create controversy during the election process.

Bukhari further alleged that some PPP lawmakers entered polling stations with armed security personnel and were involved in disputes with voters. She questioned the party’s post-election stance and accused it of politicizing the electoral process after the results.
