In a decisive move to make crucial medications more accessible, the Ministry of Health has officially announced a significant reduction in the prices of emergency medicines.
The Cabinet’s approval, a crucial step in this endeavor, reflects the government’s commitment to improving healthcare affordability.
Health Minister Nadeem Jan, the driving force behind this initiative, emphasized that the reduced prices specifically target medicines essential for Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients.
Notably, the drug Colistimethate Sodium witnesses a substantial price drop, ranging from 55 to 65 percent.
Breaking down the figures, Minister Nadeem Jan highlighted the impressive price adjustments. The cost of a 1 million unit injection, previously at Rs 2987, has now been slashed to Rs 1036. Similarly, the 2 million unit injection, once priced at Rs 4564, is now available at Rs 1737. The 3 million unit injection, previously costing Rs 5855, has seen a reduction to Rs 2591.
Undeterred by the challenging times, Minister Nadeem Jan expressed unwavering determination to provide relief to patients in need. He reassured the public that the crackdown against fake and unregistered medicines will persist, underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and authenticity of medical supplies.
