Hangu IBO Operation: Pakistan Army Captain Martyred, Seven Terrorists Killed

Islamabad – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – The Hangu IBO operation has once again shown the courage of Pakistan’s armed forces. On Saturday, the military confirmed that a brave army captain lost his life while seven terrorists were eliminated during this intelligence-based mission in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The operation began on August 7 after troops received solid information about the presence of Fitna al-Khawarij fighters hiding in the Hangu area. Acting fast, security forces moved in to clear the location.

During the firefight, soldiers engaged the militants directly at their hideout. Seven terrorists were killed in the exchange, and the area was later cleared to make sure no other fighters remained hidden nearby.

Sadly, the mission came at a heavy cost. Captain Hamza Akram, just 27 years old and belonging to Narowal, was martyred while chasing the militants during the intense gun battle. Reports say he was leading his men from the front lines, showing true leadership until his final moment.

After the clash, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists killed in the operation. Officials say these militants were linked to several past attacks on security personnel, police, and even innocent civilians.

The military reaffirmed its promise to keep fighting terrorism across the country. Under the ongoing Azm-e-Istehkam campaign, forces plan to continue targeting groups that receive foreign backing and support.

Meanwhile, in a separate but related action, security forces carried out another successful mission in Balochistan’s Mastung district. Three fighters belonging to Fitna al-Hindustan were killed, and twelve suspects were taken into custody for further questioning.

This mission, known as Rad-ul-Fitna-3, covered a wide stretch of nearly 68 square kilometers between the Kambela and Asimabad localities. Troops carried out deep search and clearing activities to make the region safer.

During the operation, two bodies were recovered, while four other militants were injured, including a senior commander named Shaukat Mama. Soldiers also took down flags belonging to the militant group after destroying their hideouts.

Since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban took control of Afghanistan, Pakistan has faced a sharp rise in terror-related violence. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan remain the most affected provinces.

A recent report from the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) revealed troubling numbers. Together, these two provinces made up almost 96 percent of all violence-linked deaths in the second quarter of 2026.

Out of the total lives lost, more than 61 percent, around 475 people, were reported in KP alone. Balochistan followed closely behind with about 34 percent, or 265 deaths.

KP also recorded the highest number of violent events, with 151 incidents reported. Balochistan came next with 94 incidents during the same period.

These numbers show how important operations like the Hangu IBO mission truly are. Every successful strike against these militant networks helps protect ordinary citizens and brings a bit more peace to these troubled regions.

The sacrifice of Captain Hamza Akram will not be forgotten. His courage stands as a reminder of the price many soldiers pay to keep the country safe from terrorism.
