Govt Fulfilled Budget Commitments, Says Atta Tarar

FBR Reforms Helped Recover Billions in Revenue, Minister says

Islamabad: (Web Desk) – Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar has said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif fulfilled his commitments through the federal budget, describing it as a reflection of the government’s reform agenda and economic vision.

Speaking at a post-budget press conference, Atta Tarar stated that billions of rupees were being lost due to tax leakages within the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). He claimed that the sugar sector alone was responsible for tax leakages amounting to Rs60 billion and questioned why salaried individuals should bear the burden of tax evasion by specific industries.

The minister said that government reforms helped curb tax evasion in the sugar industry, resulting in the collection of an additional Rs60 billion in revenue. He added that these measures have strengthened the national economy and improved fiscal discipline.

Tarar noted that Pakistan had previously faced concerns regarding a potential default, but the government’s economic policies had restored stability and placed the country on a path toward sustainable growth.

He maintained that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had delivered on key budget promises and successfully ended the culture of recommendations within the tax authority, calling the FBR reforms historic.
