Major Relief Announced for Cancer Medicine Production

Islamabad: (Web Desk) – Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced a major relief measure to boost the local production of medicines used for cancer and other critical illnesses under the government’s National Tariff Policy 2025-30.

Presenting the Budget 2026-27, the finance minister said the government has decided to completely eliminate customs duties on more than 100 categories of raw materials used in the manufacturing of cancer and other life-saving medicines.

He said the initiative is designed to strengthen Pakistan’s pharmaceutical sector, lower production costs and improve the availability of essential medicines for patients nationwide.

Muhammad Aurangzeb noted that serious illnesses such as cancer impose significant financial and emotional challenges on patients and their families, making affordable treatment a national priority.

He emphasized that the government is taking practical measures to reduce the cost of healthcare and ensure wider access to life-saving drugs across the country.
