Gen Syed Amir Raza Assumes Command of National Strategic Command, Meets Field Marshal

RAWALPINDI: (Special Reporter) – General Syed Amir Raza has officially assumed command of Pakistan’s National Strategic Command, where he was presented with a guard of honour during a formal change-of-command ceremony.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Amir Raza laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered Fateha in tribute to the armed forces personnel who sacrificed their lives in the defence of the country.

The ISPR said the newly appointed Commander National Strategic Command later met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ). During the meeting, the Field Marshal congratulated General Amir Raza on assuming his new responsibilities and extended his best wishes.

Two days earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had promoted Lieutenant General Amir Raza, who was serving as Chief of General Staff (CGS), to the rank of four-star general.

In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that alongside his promotion, General Amir Raza had also been appointed Commander National Strategic Command.

Commissioned into the Pakistan Army in 1988, General Amir Raza is a graduate of the Command and Staff College Quetta and the National Defence University Islamabad. He also holds a degree in International Relations from the University of Nottingham.

Before his latest appointment, General Amir Raza served as Chief of General Staff since January 2025. During his military career, he has also held key positions, including Commander IV Corps and Chairman of Heavy Industries Taxila.
