Gohar demands immediate release of Aleema Khan
Gohar says PTI will pursue demands through peaceful means
Lahore: (Staff Reporter) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has condemned the arrest of Aleema Khan, saying her detention could further heighten political tensions in the country.
In a message posted on X, Barrister Gohar said the PTI’s planned September 27 march would remain peaceful and political, stressing that the party did not want confrontation or violence.
He said the PTI intended to pursue its constitutional and political demands through peaceful means.
Barrister Gohar also demanded Aleema Khan’s immediate release, saying that her arrest or detention under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) could contribute to further tensions. He urged the government to avoid measures that could intensify the situation and said the PTI would announce its future course of action regarding the arrest.

According to PTI sources, Aleema Khan was taken into custody by police in Lahore on Sunday under Section 3 of the MPO Ordinance. Dawn reported that the Lahore deputy commissioner had ordered her detention or arrest for 30 days.
Her reported detention comes ahead of the PTI’s planned September 27 march. The party has described the planned activity as a peaceful political protest, while the government has indicated that it will not allow such a march to enter Islamabad.
Aleema Khan and her sisters had previously faced restrictions while attempting to meet PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
In July, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad declared Aleema Khan and her sister Uzma Khan proclaimed offenders in connection with an October 4 protest case and issued perpetual arrest warrants against them.
