“Gas Theft Crackdown: 178 Connections Disconnected, Rs 9.19M Fine Imposed”
LAHORE: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) intensified its crackdown on gas pilferage, disconnecting 178 connections across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad. Additionally, the company processed 360 cases related to underbilling during the operation. A substantial fine of Rs 9.19 million was imposed as part of the measures against gas theft.
In Lahore, the regional team disconnected 24 connections for illegal gas usage, including 3 for compressor use. They also processed 41 underbilling cases, imposing a fine of Rs 0.45 million for gas theft and underbilling. The regional team in Rawalpindi disconnected 5 connections for illegal gas use, while the Islamabad team disconnected 5 connections.
In Multan, 15 connections were severed due to illegal gas use, with 137 underbilling cases processed. A fine of Rs 0.21 million was imposed, and a FIR was lodged. Sheikhupura’s team disconnected 15 connections for illegal gas use and 2 for compressor use, processing 20 underbilling cases and imposing a fine of Rs 2.58 million.
In Sargodha, 66 underbilling cases were processed, with an amount of Rs 0.06 million booked. In Peshawar and Karak, 84 connections were disconnected for direct and illegal gas use, with 30 underbilling cases processed and a fine of Rs 2.43 million imposed. Mardan’s team disconnected 7 connections for direct and illegal gas use, booking 60 underbilling cases and imposing a fine of Rs 0.45 million.

Bahawalpur’s team disconnected 1 connection for illegal gas use and 12 for compressor use. In Sahiwal, 2 connections were disconnected for illegal gas use, while Faisalabad saw 1 connection disconnected for illegal gas use, with 3 underbilling cases processed and a fine of Rs 0.01 million booked.
In Gujranwala, 1 connection was disconnected for illegal gas use, with an amount of Rs 1.5 million booked against gas theft and underbilling. In Sialkot, 1 connection was disconnected for illegal gas use, with 3 underbilling cases processed and an amount of Rs 1.5 million booked against underbilling and gas theft cases.
