MOSCOW: (News Desk) – A fire broke out near an oil refinery in Russia’s Leningrad region on Sunday after an unmanned aerial vehicle crashed in the vicinity, according to regional authorities. The incident comes as Ukraine continues its campaign against Russian energy infrastructure.

Leningrad Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko said a UAV had crashed near an oil refinery in the Kirishi district, triggering a fire. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, although authorities did not immediately report whether anyone had been injured.
Drozdenko also said Russian air-defence forces had intercepted or destroyed 42 drones over the Leningrad region as operations continued. The latest incident adds to a series of reported attacks targeting Russia’s oil and energy facilities.
