Eight terrorists killed, six soldiers martyred during Hangu encounter

Captain, lieutenant among six soldiers martyred in Hangu

RAWALPINDI: (Special Reporter) – Eight terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Hangu, while six soldiers, including a captain and a lieutenant, were martyred during the operation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said terrorists affiliated with Fitna-al-Khawarij attacked a security forces convoy in Hangu. Security personnel responded effectively, resulting in the deaths of eight terrorists during the ensuing exchange of fire.

According to ISPR, 23-year-old Captain Abuzar Farooq, a resident of Gujranwala, and 22-year-old Lieutenant Shiraz Babar, from Chakwal, were among the soldiers who lost their lives while fighting the attackers. Four other soldiers were also martyred during the intense exchange of fire.

Following the encounter, a clearance operation is underway in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining terrorists.

ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies remain engaged in counter-terrorism operations to eliminate terrorism from the country. The military said the sacrifices of its personnel further strengthen its resolve to protect the country and its people.
