Doctors Suspended Over C-Section ‘Competition’ Video

Lahore Doctors Suspended After Viral C-Section Competition Footage

LAHORE: (Web Desk) – A major controversy has erupted at Lady Willingdon Hospital after a video allegedly filmed inside the operating theatre during two C-section procedures went viral on social media, showing doctors apparently referring to the surgeries as a “competition.”

The footage reportedly depicts medical staff seemingly racing to complete the C-sections first, with audible remarks highlighting the competitive behavior.

In response, the Punjab government has demanded an explanation from the Head of the Gynecology Department, Professor Uzma Hussain. Postgraduate training of four female doctors—Dr. Tayyaba Fatima Toor, Dr. Maham Amin, Dr. Zainab Tahir, and Dr. Ayesha Afzal—has been suspended pending investigation.

Notices have also been issued to the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Farah Inam, and Professor Dr. Uzma Hussain, requiring detailed clarification.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique condemned the incident, calling it a breach of medical ethics, an affront to patient dignity, and an example of unprofessional conduct. Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood warned that strict action would follow if satisfactory explanations are not provided within the stipulated timeframe.
