Pakistan intensifies diplomacy as Asim Munir meets Iran leadership


TEHRAN: (Web Desk) Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a significant meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during his visit to Tehran, as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.

The meeting is being viewed as crucial in the context of attempts to ease tensions and encourage progress toward a possible understanding between Iran and the United States.

Earlier, the army chief had a packed schedule in Tehran, engaging with key members of the Iranian leadership. He met Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, a central figure in Iran’s political structure who previously led a delegation to Islamabad.

Field Marshal Asim Munir also held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, focusing on regional developments and diplomatic coordination.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the visit is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to mediate between Tehran and Washington. Interior Minister Mohsen Naqvi is accompanying the army chief during the visit.

Iranian media also reported that the visiting delegation met with senior military leadership, including the head of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stated that he may visit Pakistan if a deal is reached between Washington and Tehran.
