Bournemouth Stay Perfect in Europa League While Milan Slump Again
Cherries fight back from a goal down, while Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan slump again at San Siro
PARIS – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – Bournemouth kept their perfect Europa League record on Thursday night. They came from behind to beat ten-man Sparta Prague 3-1 in the Czech Republic.
Sparta went ahead through Ebrima Singhateh, who ran from his own half and scored a fine solo goal. Before that, Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook had hit the post with a penalty.
Sparta lost Tobias Guddal to a red card before half-time. Tyler Adams then levelled the game for the visitors in the 57th minute.
Evanilson put the Cherries in front nine minutes from time. Substitute Rayan added a late third goal to seal the win.
The result sends the newcomers to the top of the table with four wins in a row. Marco Rose’s side have now won seven straight games in all competitions. Next up is a Premier League trip to Ipswich this weekend.
AC Milan struggle again
Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan lost 2-0 at home to Ferencvaros. It was their third defeat in four matches.
Haiti international Lenny Joseph scored twice in the second half at San Siro. Ferencvaros played the final stretch with ten men after Bamidele Yusuf was sent off, yet they held firm and kept their 100 percent record.
Milan have just three points at the halfway stage and sit outside the top 24.
Palace draw late
Crystal Palace drew 1-1 at home to Hoffenheim. Alexander Prass gave the visitors an early lead at Selhurst Park.
Adam Wharton was sent off for a second yellow card. Daichi Kamada then scored in stoppage time to save a point for Pierre Sage’s side.
Palace have five points from four games in the competition. They also sit in the Premier League relegation zone, just behind Manchester United on goal difference.
