ANF Burns 15 Tons of Seized Narcotics in Punjab

Sheikhupura: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Punjab organized a significant event in Sheikhupura – the annual drug burning ceremony. This year, a substantial quantity of drugs was destroyed, totaling around 15 tons, including heroin, hashish, and other illicit substances ¹.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of civil and military officers, representatives of law enforcement agencies, academics, students, and members of NGOs. Director General Anti-Narcotics Force Major General Abdul Moeed, Hilal-e-Imtiaz Military, was the chief guest and addressed the event, highlighting the ANF’s efforts to combat the drug menace.

The ANF Punjab has made notable progress in its anti-narcotics efforts, registering 511 cases against drug smugglers and securing convictions for 69 criminals, who were sentenced to life imprisonment. Additionally, 238 criminals received severe punishments ¹.

The annual drug destruction event serves as a powerful reminder of the resolve to prevent the use and spread of drugs. The ANF is working tirelessly to reduce drug use, conducting awareness campaigns and protecting educational institutions from the drug menace. In fact, awareness programs have been organized in over 100 universities, with another 150 institutions to be covered by April 30, 2025.

The ceremony also recognized the bravery of ANF personnel and other law enforcement agencies, who risk their lives to combat the illicit drug trade. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to those working alongside the ANF in the war on drugs.
