Ambassador Dr. Oumer Calls on Commerce Minister of Pakistan

Ethiopia and Pakistan Agree to Form a Joint Trade Committee to Boost Economic Ties Across Key Sectors

Islamabad – (Web Desk) – H.E. Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), called on H.E. Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for Commerce, on Thursday at the Ministry of Commerce in Islamabad.

During the meeting, both sides had a comprehensive discussion regarding various initiatives for enhancing bilateral cooperation across trade, investment, connectivity, tourism, and culture to further strengthen their ties.

They also agreed on establishing a Joint Trade Committee in line with the bilateral trade agreement signed in 2023 between the two sides.

Ambassador Dr. Oumer underlined the critical need for enhanced connectivity between Ethiopia and Pakistan, noting that improved logistics are crucial to promote trade, investment and tourism ties.

He highlighted the vast investment potential of Ethiopia especially in the agriculture, manufacturing, ICT, and mining sectors, inviting Pakistani business community to explore the opportunities.

Pakistan Praised by Russia for US Iran Mediation Role

The Federal Minister acknowledged the immense potential for growth across these multiple sectors, recalling his recent visit to Ethiopia during Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition that held in Addis Ababa in 2025.

He assured the Ambassador of his full support and commitment to fostering a more integrated and prosperous economic partnership between the two countries.
