Naqvi Islamabad march warning: Organisers held responsible for any loss of life

Islamabad – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued a sharp warning on Friday over PTI’s planned Islamabad march, saying no group would be allowed to enter the federal capital under the cover of protest.

Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, Naqvi said the government had studied the Islamabad High Court’s detailed ruling closely. He stated the verdict leaves no legal room for anyone to force their way into the city.

The Interior Minister said law enforcement teams across every province have received clear instructions. Their job, he explained, is to stop any group from reaching Islamabad before trouble starts.

Naqvi’s remarks came just days after the Islamabad High Court released a lengthy 37-page judgment. The court ruled that political parties can hold peaceful protests, but cannot block roads or occupy public buildings while doing so.

That ruling was tied directly to PTI’s announced plan for a long march into Islamabad on September 27. The party says the march aims to demand the release of its founder and push for constitutional supremacy.

Naqvi told PTI leaders that breaking the court’s order would trigger contempt of court proceedings right away. He urged the party to hold its demonstrations in its own cities instead of bringing crowds toward the capital.

The minister also drew a firm line between ordinary political rallies and organized groups moving toward Islamabad in large numbers. He said the two situations would be treated very differently by security forces.

Naqvi added that anyone responsible for gathering protesters would be held accountable if violence broke out or lives were lost. He said this applies to organizers just as much as to those taking part.

Timing was another point Naqvi raised during the briefing. He said it looked poor for a party to plan sit-ins while the nation was mourning security personnel killed in a recent terror attack.

He referenced funerals held for slain officers on the same day protest preparations were underway elsewhere. Naqvi called this contrast inappropriate given the security challenges Pakistan is currently facing.

The Interior Minister said Islamabad simply cannot be shut down through street pressure. He stressed that no province or city should be paralyzed because a political movement wants attention.

Naqvi confirmed that discussions had already taken place with officials from all provinces. He said preparations to prevent any breach of the capital have been finalized in coordination with federal agencies.

He also called on opposition leaders to reconsider their approach before September 27 arrives. Naqvi suggested many supporters may not fully understand why they are being asked to travel to Islamabad.

With tensions rising ahead of the planned march, the coming days are expected to bring further statements from both government officials and PTI leadership. Authorities have signaled they are ready to act if the court’s order is ignored.
