MUZAFFARABAD: (Staff Reporter) – The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has appointed Senior-most Additional Secretary (BS-19) Raja Shahid Hussain as the new Director General of the Department of Tourism and Archaeology.

According to a notification issued by the AJK Services and General Administration Department, the government relaxed existing restrictions on transfers and postings to facilitate the appointment.

Raja Shahid Hussain was previously serving as Additional Secretary in the Higher Education Department. He has also held several key administrative positions, including Additional Secretary in the Home Department.

He has further served as the head of an attached department under the Information Department during his administrative career.

Meanwhile, BS-20 officer Shaukat Ali, who was serving as Director General of Tourism and Archaeology, has been transferred and attached to the Services and General Administration Department until further orders.

The changes were announced through notification No. S&GAD/A-1(40)/XVII/2026(Gazetted-I).
