MUZAFFARABAD: (Staff Reporter) – Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Iftikhar Gilani has ordered departments to align recruitment rules with the third-party recruitment law and ensure merit-based hiring, while directing district administrations to resolve public complaints without delay.
He issued the directives while chairing the first meeting of the AJK Cabinet, which reviewed the Education Package 2026, teacher recruitment policy and the Ease of Doing Business Act 2026.
The cabinet constituted a three-member committee to review the Education Package 2026, comprising Ministers Waqar Ahmed Noor, Azhar Sadiq and Umair Naeem.
The meeting was also briefed on the teacher recruitment policy and the Ease of Doing Business Act 2026.
Gilani said the government’s priority was to facilitate citizens and improve public confidence in state institutions. He directed the cabinet and bureaucracy to work in coordination to improve service delivery.
He said political representatives were best placed to understand public concerns and instructed all departments to amend their rules in accordance with the third-party recruitment law.
The prime minister directed that third-party recruitment be carried out strictly on merit, competence and ability. He also ordered the establishment of a complaints desk at the Prime Minister’s Office until the complaints portal becomes fully operational.
“Good governance does not require money; it requires a change in attitude and approach,” Gilani said, calling for a change in the government’s working approach at all levels.
He warned that officials unwilling to support the government’s reform agenda would not be able to remain part of the team.
Gilani said the AJK government would follow the vision of PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
He further directed district administrations to facilitate citizens and ensure that no legitimate right was denied. He ordered immediate action on public complaints, particularly those concerning land and other administrative matters.
