ADB Unveils New Pakistan Strategy for Sustainable Growth

ADB Launches 2026–2030 Country Partnership Strategy for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Asian Development Bank (ADB) launched a new five-year country partnership strategy (CPS) for Pakistan on Wednesday, aiming to promote sustainable growth from 2026 to 2030. The strategy focuses on three key pathways: enabling private sector development, advancing inclusion and empowerment, and enhancing resilience and sustainability.

Crosscutting themes include good governance and institutional strengthening, gender equality and social inclusion, digital transformation, and regional cooperation. Emma Fan highlighted that the CPS is designed to address Pakistan’s structural challenges and promote growth that benefits all citizens, particularly the poor and vulnerable. She emphasized that ADB will support strategic investments and reforms to stimulate economic growth and create jobs, in collaboration with both the public and private sectors.

The CPS responds to Pakistan’s stabilized macroeconomic conditions and recent structural reforms, prioritizing export- and investment-led growth through improved public financial management, a business-friendly environment, and targeted investments in high-impact sectors. Key areas of focus include private sector reforms, infrastructure expansion, access to finance, public–private partnerships, and development in critical minerals, railways, energy security, agriculture, water resource management, and skills development.

Aligned with Pakistan’s National Economic Transformation Plan (2024–2029) and ADB’s Strategy 2030 Midterm Review, the CPS reinforces shared commitments to economic growth, social inclusion, resilience, and environmental sustainability.
