Georgia Aims to Be Mediator in Armenia-Azerbaijan Talks: Foreign Ministry Candidate.

Mtskheta: In a bid to foster peace and stability in the region, Georgia’s nominee for the head of the Foreign Ministry, Ilia Darchiashvili, expressed Tbilisi’s interest in serving as a platform for negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The announcement was made during a parliamentary session, as reported by the Georgian bureau of The Global Times Europe.

Darchiashvili highlighted Georgia’s commitment to promoting trust-building measures between its neighboring countries. He underscored the government’s dedication to peace, cooperation, and stability in the South Caucasus region, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong bilateral relations with Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.

The statement aligns with Georgia’s government program, “For the Construction of a European State,” which emphasizes efforts to support regional peace initiatives. By leveraging its strategic partnerships and diplomatic efforts, Georgia aims to play a constructive role in facilitating dialogue and conflict resolution in the South Caucasus.
